Entrevista completisima de AbsolutePunk a Mark. Muy, muy recomendable, tenéis que leerla, os revolverá muchas dudas. La entrevista es muy extensa y me hubiera llevado horas traducirla completa (ya me ha llevado su rato esto), así que como hago ultimamente, os resumo cada pregunta/respuesta:

- Le gusta vivir en UK. Al principio solo iba a ser para un año, pero se alargo y no sabe si seguirá así dos años más, volverán en verano... no sabe.
- Lo que más echa de menos es la buena comida Mexicana.
- El logo del pulpo que ahora usa para Hi my name is Mark surgió cuando empezó a practicar submarinismo. Mark quería un logo o algo para marcar su equipo y un amigo suyo le llevo el diseño, le encanto y Mark lo empezó a usar para todo.
- Desde que esta en UK no ha podido hacer de productor con ninguna banda. Nada desde My Dinosaur Life.
- Sobre 'Dogs Eating Dogs', la idea fue de Tom: "¿Por que no grabamos un EP a tiempo para Navidad?". Mark voló a LA y lo grabaron en un par de semanas. Lo malo que al no tener sello, solo pudieron venderlo online y no en formato físico.
- En cuanto al próximo disco, ahora mismo están hablando con discograficas y recibiendo ofertas. La intención es empezar a grabarlo a principios del año que viene. Mark planea volar a USA y reunirse con Tom y Travis en el estudio después de las vacaciones.
- Mark espera escribir la mayor parte del nuevo disco cuando estén juntos. Es cuando hacen su mejor trabajo y no cuando cada uno esta en su propia esquina.
- Sobre que dirección tomara el sonido del próximo disco, Mark dice que buscará que el próximo disco sea más rápido, más experimental...
- Están hablando con diferentes productores. Unos seis. Y la intención es trabajar con 3 o 4 de ellos.
Están buscando de diferentes géneros: rock, indie, hip-hop, pop...
- A Mark le gusta cuando él y Tom cantan juntos, en Neighborhoods apenas había pero no fue intencionado, así que intentara que haya más.
- La gente suele pensar que Mark canta lo que escribe él y Tom lo suyo. Pero Mark dice que es así en un 70% de las veces. No suelen tener mayor complicación para decidir quien canta cada parte. Suelen ser ellos mismos quien se lo pide al otro.
- Mark odia los puentes de las canciones.
- Sobre +44. Mark y Travis han vuelto a hablar con Shane el pasado tour, pero Mark no sabe si eso les llevara a otro disco. Shane tiene algunas ideas. Mark dice que le gusta tener ahí la opción, aunque por ahora no tiene planes.
- Mark no piensa en un nuevo proyecto paralelo o disco en solitario. Su proyecto junto a Chris Holmes es un experimento, harán algo los próximos meses, pero más que nada por diversión.
- Desde el untitled, las letras de Mark son más oscuras, a la hora de escribir se ha centrado más en el lado oscuro del pensamiento y la humanidad.
- A Mark nunca le ha importado que les tomaran por una broma. Le gusta que tras tantos años los fans sigamos ahí.
- Su forma de escribir canciones no ha cambiado. Cada día piensa que nunca volverá a escribir nada bueno.
- Todo lo que hacen fuera de blink, termina beneficiando al grupo con diferentes ideas, diferentes habilidades, diferentes perspectivas.
- Respecto a la ruptura, le pregunta si, como muchos de los fans creen, el disco de Box Car Racer, al quedar Mark fuera, fue el inicio de la ruptura de blink-182. A lo que Mark contesta que no cree que eso tuviera nada que ver.
- Sobre la impresión que tiene la gente de ellos dos, él y Tom. Mark dice que son muy diferentes, nunca sabes por donde va a venir Tom. Es muy imprevisible, muy frenético. Se centra en muchas cosas. Un día quiere viajar al espacio, otro quiere escribir un libro y al día siguiente escribir una película. Él no es así. Por eso con su energía, Tom hace que Mark haga cosas que no haría y Mark tira de Tom para hacer sus ideas más razonables. Se complementan.
- El entrevistador dice que su linea favorita de Neighborhoods es “Stop living in the shadow of a helicopter.” de 'MH 4.18.2011' (Y la mía!) y le pregunta por como se le ocurrió. Mark contesta que fue un día mientras estaba en su coche camino del estudio, un helicóptero paso por encima volando y vio perfectamente su sombra. Nunca ves la sombra de un helicóptero. Pensó en lo negativo que representa ver volar un helicóptero en zonas de guerra o de alta criminalidad y como la gente los ve a diario.
- Adam’s Song significa mucho para Mark. ¿La volverán a tocar en directo? le preguntan. Comprensiblemente ni siquiera hablan de ella. Está apartada, por lo que representa para el grupo.
- Cuando le preguntan por la celebración del aniversario del lanzamiento de alguno de sus discos (el mes que viene se cumplen 10 años del untitled) por ejemplo, un relanzamiento o un tour, Mark no puede decir nada. Están abiertos a ideas.
- Mark en su podcast y Hoppus On Music solía recomendar grupos. Esta vez recomienda Alt-J, Bastille, The 1975 y Holy Ghost!.
- No le gusta dormir. Suele levantarse a las 6 a.m.
- Es un honor para él, que blink-182 sea influencia de las bandas que empiezan ahora.
- Si tiene que elegir una canción de blink para tocar el resto de su vida, elegiría 'Feeling This'. Cree que representa la transformación de blink-182, dando un paso hacia delante pero a la vez sonando como antes.
- Siempre han grabado lo que ellos han querido, han sido ellos mismos, nunca han ido a grabar lo que estaba de moda o lo que se esperaba de ellos.
- ¿Donde le gustaría ver a blink? Mark dice que quiere hacer lo de siempre. Conciertos, escribir canciones, tocar temas viejos, salir y trabajar.

El nuevo EP de blink-182 se llama "dogs eating dogs" y será lanzado el 18 de Diciembre. Por el momento no hay portada. Ya está de nuevo disponible, en blink-182.com, la reserva de los 3 packs especiales con el nuevo EP de blink-182 (Info en la noticia anterior). Si solo quieres el EP, podrás adquirirlo el día de lanzamiento.

Al parecer la pagina fue abierta antes de tiempo. En las reservas, el EP aparece como lanzamiento digital, no hay información de si saldrá en formato físico. Además, nueva web proximamente...

PD: ¿Que os parece el titulo,  "dogs eating dogs"?
